Udarata Marriage and Divorce Act will be amended

The Udarata Marriage and Divorce Amendment act have been gazetted as per the instructions of the Ministry of Justice, Prison Affairs, and Constitutional Reforms.

The new act has done away with the requirement of obtaining the consent of a competent authority for the marriage of a minor.

The minimum age for marriage has been made 18 years for all persons subject to Udarata law.
