Wedding ceremonies attended by the police without invitation

Based on information received from the National Child Protection Authority's 1929 emergency number, the police raided a wedding ceremony held at a function hall in Angulana, Moratuwa.

It is during the wedding ceremony of the minor bride and groom. The police have arrested them in their wedding dress andthe minor girl has been sent to the Colombo South Teaching Hospital for a medical examination.

In the initial investigations conducted by the police, it has been revealed that the bride is 15 years and 6 months oldand the groom is 19 years old.
