Northern railway line restored

Last night, a freight train derailed near the Wellawa railway station, disrupting the running of the northern route.

This train was running from Anuradhapura to Colombo.

Due to this, trains from Colombo to Jaffna, Batticaloa and Trincomalee were restricted up to Mahawa Junction.

However, the Department of Railways stated that traffic on the railway line has now been restored.
